The best way to admire the beauty of Lake Orta is strolling around with a licensed local guide who will ensure a complete and thorough experience. You will then enjoy a mini-cruise on the Lake with its elegant villas lined up on the coast, like the sumptuous Villa Crespi whose minaret gives a fanciful exotic touch to the peninsula of Orta, or the white granite crag dominated by the elegant 18th-century sanctuary of the “Virgin of the Rock” (Madonna del Sasso). You'll reach in around 15 minutes the picturesque Island of S. Giulio, with its splendid medieval church and its imposing Benedictine monastery. After around one hour a tourist boat will take you to the charming little old town of Orta San Giulio with its historical buildings, colorful shops, and typical cafés. The tour ends with one last trip on the tourist boat, admiring the romantic hamlets of Oira e Ronco and other scenic sites before getting back to the pier.
